February 9

This Week:

  • Students had a quiz on volume of rectangular prisms and cylinders
  • We read an origin story from Greece
  • We discussed the laws of Ancient Babylon in Hammurabi's Code and students wrote paragraphs describing (with evidence) whether they thought the laws were fair or unfair
  • We discussed physical and chemical properties, and qualitative and quantitative properties in science
  • We participated in Maker Day on Friday. Students were put into teams of 4 and had to design a prototype of a transportation device that could go over any type of terrain (water, mountains, etc.). Congratulations to the 4 teams who won neighbourhood prizes!
Next Week:

  • Monday is Family Day - no school!
  • Tuesday is the ski trip. All students going to the ski trip must be at Journey at 4:45am. We are leaving at 5am and anyone who is late will be left behind.
  • Students who are not going on the ski trip will have a fun-filled day at school. Please meet in the gym for attendance and morning announcements.
  • We will be completing a lab at the fire pit on Wednesday to determine substances based on their chemical properties.
  • We will host Earl Claxton on Thursday morning. He will tell us some local indigenous stories.
  • We will begina "Geometrocity" project in which students will use their understanding of geometry to build a city.
