January 11

Happy New Year!

This Week:

  • We set personal and academic goals for 2018 and discussed strategies in how to meet them.
  • We began a Francophone Culture Project - students have chosen French-speaking countries and will research aspects of their cultures.
  • We began a unit on Geometry. There will be a pop quiz on area and perimeter of rectangles tomorrow (Friday).
  • We began a unit on World Mythology in English and read two myths explaining the creation of volcanoes.
  • We began a unit on Ancient Mesopotamia. We watched a video and took notes on government, geography, achievements, religion, and economy.
  • We began a unit on Chemistry and learned vocabulary words about Pure Substances and Mixtures.


Next Week:

  • Monday is a Non-Instructional Day. I will be at a conference at Belmont learning new math instructional techniques. Look out for some new math games in the coming weeks!
  • We will continue to work on the French Country projects.
  • We will solidify understanding of mixtures and pure substances with notes and activities.
  • We will learn how to calcualte area and perimeter of triangles.
  • We will continue our Pele/Hephaestus paragraph assignment and read two Pourquoi Tales.
